The Master of Education programme covers the core areas of education research, ethics, professional development, curriculum development and technology-integrated education. It is a professional study meant to upgrade the quality of services in educational institutions. You will be able to conduct education research, and write academic papers and journal articles.
Besides, you will gain knowledge and skills that are immediately applicable in the classroom, education management and administrative setting or digital learning, depending on your chosen specialisation. Currently we offer three strands of specialisation, with more coming:
- Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL)
You can qualify as a TESL instructor who can teach anywhere in the world.
- Education Management
This will enhance your leadership and grasp of management theories and
practices across the education sectors.
- e-Learning
You will focus on designing and implementing education technologies, and
incorporating media into e-learning instructions to ensure high engagement
and interactivity.
- Fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA)
- Recognised by the Public Service Department (JPA)

Research in Education
This course introduces the basic knowledge and skills needed to conduct research in the field of education. Students will be exposed to the fundamentals of research, data collection methods, data analysis techniques, as well as the interpretations of research findings.
Technology-Integrated Education
This course focuses on the introduction of knowledge and skills required to integrate technology into teaching and learning. Designed to cover instructional design models and practical applications, it enables students to apply the principles of instructional design to their prototypes, as well as plan and organise lessons with technology integration to accomplish the desired learning objectives.
Educational Research Project
This project course aims to provide students with an opportunity to conduct their own original research. This course provides them with an authentic experience of going through the various stages of researching and writing project reports deemed sufficient for a Master’s degree, as well as enables them to acquire 21st century skills through the research process and face uncertainties with confidence as the research is to discover the knowns and unknowns.
Learning Path
Students will gain essential knowledge and skills required through the core and specialisation courses.
Students will embark on the research journey with the guidance of their Supervisor and support from the Project Coordinator.
The programme improves your teaching skills and qualifies you for administrative positions in educational institutions, publishing and corporate training. You can be a teacher/lecturer, researcher, curriculum developer, corporate trainer, content writer, principal, childcare director or education consultant.

APEL.C Courses
The maximum credit transfer through APEL.C is 30% of the total graduating credits for a specific programme of study.

Regular Entry
i. Bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent; OR
ii. Bachelor’s degree with CGPA less than 2.50 with a minimum of five (5) years working experience in the relevant field
Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL)
Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) provides an opportunity for individuals with working experience but lacking formal academic qualifications to pursue their tertiary studies. APEL involves the identification, documentation and assessment of prior experiential learning to determine the extent to which an individual has achieved the desired learning outcomes, for access to a programme of study.
Applicants should comply with the following admission criteria stipulated by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA):
- The candidate should be at least 30 years of age in the year of application and possess at least STPM / Diploma / equivalent (e.g. foundation) with relevant work experience.

All of the University’s courses are classified into three categories, i.e., lower level, middle level or higher level. Lower-level courses are basic, introductory or foundation courses designed for freshmen. Middle-level courses may require some knowledge of previous study or a certain amount of intellectual maturity. Higher level courses are specialised courses usually designed for those majoring in a particular discipline. The level of a course is indicated by the first digit of the course code, i.e., lower level courses are indicated by the code 1XX/XX, middle level courses by 2XX/XX and higher level courses by 3XX/XX or 4XX/XX. The 2 digits after the slash indicate the credit value of the course. i.e., WLA101/03 is a lower level course of 3 credits while BBM203/05 is a middle level course of 5 credits and TEC305/10 is a higher level course of 10 credits.
