This course introduces essential curriculum and pedagogy principles through a balanced integration of theory and practice, covering curriculum and lesson planning, classroom management, educational tools, and the professional role of the teacher. It also includes microteaching sessions that offer hands-on experience, allowing students to practice teaching strategies, strengthen instructional skills, and build confidence in delivering lessons within a supportive learning environment.

Your Learning Pathway: From Basics to Mastery

Online (ODL), Part Time
YEAR 1: THE FUNDAMENTAL IN EDUCATION Online (ODL), Part Time

Students will be introduced a diverse range of courses that establish the foundation for effective teaching and educational leadership. They will learn the crucial theories and concepts essential for successful teaching practices, and acquire the skills for lesson planning and assessment preparation. Students will also learn to analyze the unique needs and characteristics of learners, facilitating the development of personalized and effective teaching strategies. They will also explore the strategic use of technology in teaching. Additionally, students will be exposed to the principles of management and leadership in educational contexts, equipping them to be successful educational leaders.

YEAR 2: CAPSTONE – TEACHING PRACTICUM Online (ODL), Part Time

Students are advised that they will be required to complete Teaching Practicum for a period of 10 weeks in an education institution registered with the Ministry of Education Malaysia. Students must therefore make their own arrangements with their current employers in order to make time to undertake the teaching practicum internship. They may also choose to do their practicum in their own workplace if appropriate.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

To graduate with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education, a student must successfully complete 33 credit units with a minimum CGPA of 3.0.

Admission

Entry Requirement
  • A Bachelor’s degree in *related field (Level 6, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or its equivalent as accepted by the HEP Senate; or
  • A Bachelor’s degree in *related field (Level 6, MQF), with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting CGPA of 2.5 can be accepted subject to a minimum of TWO years working experience in education related fields; or
  • Other relevant equivalent qualifications recognised by Malaysian government as equivalent to the above requirements.

*Related field: Related to the Social Science or STEM

English Competency Requirement (International Student):

Achieve (MUET) or any English competency test equivalent to a Low B1 Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

APEL Entry: Turning Experience into Credentials

Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) provides an opportunity for individuals with working experience but lack of formal academic qualifications to pursue their tertiary studies. APEL involves the identification, documentation and assessment of prior experiential learning to determine the extent to which an individual has achieved the desired learning outcomes, for access to a programme of study.

Applicants should comply with the following admission criteria stipulated by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA):

The candidate should be:

  • The applicant shall be 30 years of age in the year of application with at least STPM/Diploma/equivalent qualifications and must possess relevant work experience.
  • Pass the APEL.A assessment for Master’s Degree level.
