Unveiling of Yeap Chor Ee statue at WOU main campus

In commemoration of the late “Towkay” Yeap Chor Ee, a 2.5 meter tall statue of the man was unveiled at Wawasan Open University (WOU) Main Campus on Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah.

The grand copper statue of the “Grand Old Man of Penang” was unveiled by his grandson, Dato’ Seri Stephen Yeap Leong Huat, Chairman of the Wawasan Education Foundation (WEF).

Also present at the unveiling ceremony were Wawasan Open University’s Chancellor Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Dr Lim Chong Eu and Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Dato’ Emeritus Prof Gajaraj Dhanarajan.

Yeap Chor Ee was known for his great generosity and during his life, he had donated towards many worthy causes but the one closest to his heart was education. Known as the “Grand Old Man” of Penang, he was well loved for his old world courtesy, humility, generosity and integrity.
