Post Graduate Diploma in Education

My passion for becoming a qualified teacher inspired me to pursue a PGDE at WOU. It was a big step for me, but one I knew I had to take to achieve my dream.

Throughout my journey, the tutors at WOU were incredibly supportive. Their guidance, encouragement, and patience helped me overcome challenges and gave me the confidence to keep going. I never felt like I was on this journey alone.

WOU has truly transformed me—not only by deepening my knowledge but also by boosting my confidence. It has motivated me to keep growing, learning, and striving for more in both my career and personal life.

Kek Shian Yong

Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Accounting

During the COVID-19 lockdown, I felt lost and unmotivated—but WOU became my restart. It gave me the confidence and skills I needed to kickstart my career as an accountant.

The flexibility of WOU’s programme was a game changer, allowing me to balance studies with both work and family commitments. The lecturers shared real-life industry insights that made learning practical and relevant, helping me connect theory to real-world applications.

My journey with WOU has been truly transformative. It not only provided me with strong academic knowledge but also meaningful industry exposure. Through WOU, I was introduced to CIMA and its prestigious A Star Program, which boosted my confidence, sharpened my financial and analytical skills, and opened doors to global career opportunities. This experience has greatly shaped my personal and professional growth, empowering me to aim higher and excel in the business world.

Vasanthi Devi a/p Subramaniam

Bachelor of Education in Primary Education

I was inspired to pursue my studies with WOU because, among all the teachers in my school, I was the only one without a formal qualification. Being in top management, this was a challenge, but with the encouragement of my Headmistress, I finally took the step. At first, I worried about balancing work and studies, but with determination and support, I successfully completed the programme.

The flexibility of WOU made all the difference. Online classes and weekend schedules allowed me to study without compromising work. The curriculum was closely tied to my teaching experience, which made learning meaningful, and the tutors—especially Dr. Sean—were always ready to guide and encourage me.

This journey has transformed me. I gained deeper insights into inclusive education, became more confident through presentations, and grew braver in my work. Most importantly, WOU strengthened my teaching, leadership, and decision-making, empowering me to better serve in education.

Kimberly Ann Ngieng Pei Sing

Commonwealth Executive Master of Business Administration

My mother was my biggest inspiration—she completed her Master’s with WOU close to retirement. Her determination and discipline showed me that if she could do it, then maybe I could too.

For me, the biggest game changer was the flexibility. With my unconventional and often unpredictable work schedule, being able to study anytime and anywhere—even while overseas—made it possible to pursue this degree without compromising my job.

This journey also helped rebuild my confidence. I had been out of school for years and never completed my undergraduate degree, so I was worried I might struggle to keep up. But WOU’s structure and support allowed me to thrive. In fact, I recently secured a new role—and having a CEMBA definitely gave me an edge over other candidates.

Commonwealth Executive Master of Business Administration

I decided to continue my MBA with WOU because of the convenience of their online learning platform, which gave me the chance to gain knowledge while working toward a formal qualification recognised by MQA.

The flexible schedule and supportive tutors really made a difference—they guided me through the assignments and ensured I could complete everything on time. What I learned was practical and directly useful in my job, aligning well with my career goals.

Overall, my journey with WOU has been truly beneficial for my career growth and personal development. It has given me new skills, more confidence, and even opened up new career opportunities, while also strengthening my credibility in my field. Along the way, I’ve learned discipline, time management, and the importance of lifelong learning. Education can happen at any age and in any form—as long as you have the passion and the mindset to “just do it.”

Post Graduate Diploma in Education

I chose to study with WOU to upskill myself, embrace lifelong learning, and continue growing both personally and professionally while balancing responsibilities at this stage of my life.

The flexibility of the programme was what helped me most, as it allowed me to manage my studies alongside work and family commitments. Support from tutors, school management, colleagues, and family, together with the well-structured curriculum, made my learning journey both achievable and rewarding.

My time with WOU has boosted my confidence, improved my communication and leadership skills, and deepened my understanding of educational practices. It has also strengthened my time management and decision-making abilities, contributing to growth in both my professional and personal life.
