This talk will explore the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), highlighting its role in supporting engineers and technologists through resources, networking, and professional development opportunities. It will cover the importance of Professional Registration, which formally recognizes competence and commitment to professional standards. The various registration categories will be explained, including Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng), and others. The concepts of Underpinning Knowledge and Understanding (UK&U) and professional competence will be discussed, along with how these are demonstrated and assessed. The process of applying for Professional Registration and what happens after applying will also be outlined.
