WOU kicked off the year with a dynamic town hall session on 7 February 2025, rallying staff under the theme “2025 – Together, We Can Go Beyond Limits.” The annual event served as a platform to align employees with the University’s vision and priorities for the year ahead, with a focus on encouraging collective ownership and reinforcing brand positioning.

Held at WOU’s main campus in Penang, the town hall brought together staff from across the University, with colleagues from regional centres in Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, and Kuching joining via Zoom.

She provided an overview of targets, key challenges, and opportunities, offering employees deeper insights into the University’s strategic direction and their role in shaping the WOU experience.

A highlight of the session was the interactive Brand Engagement segment, aimed at strengthening staff understanding of WOU’s positioning and values.

Excitement filled the auditorium as employees eagerly pulled out their smartphones to take on Buzzword Bingo, putting their knowledge of WOU’s vision, mission, brand pillars, and values to the test.

The energy remained high as participants tackled the WOU Values Quiz, a thought-provoking set of ten questions designed to challenge them to apply these principles in real-world scenarios. The activity encouraged employees to reflect on how their actions directly impact the University’s reputation and the student experience, reinforcing their role as brand ambassadors.

In a symbolic and powerful finale, the event concluded with the Pledge Wall signing, where employees put pen to paper, affirming their commitment to driving WOU’s growth and success. Serving as a visible and inspiring reminder of the roadmap ahead, the wall stood as a testament to their collective dedication to positioning WOU as Malaysia’s leading open distance learning (ODL) institution for working adults and lifelong learners.
