On 20 February 2024 WOU & DISTED College signed a further a five-year partnership agreement centered on promoting reciprocal advantages that would benefit both institutions’ staff and students.
The collaboration was officially sealed with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) by WOU Chief Executive and Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Lily Chan and Chief Executive, DISTED College, Dato’ Lim Si Boon, at our Main Campus. The signing was witnessed by WOU Director of Marketing and Regional Centre Operations and Marketing Director, Mr Chong Kong Hoong and President, DISTED College, Prof Dr Vikneswaran Nair.

In her welcoming remarks, Prof Lily said she hoped that the partnership with DISTED will continue to develop and grow over the next years. Dato’ Lim Si Boon during his speech mentioned that “DISTED warmly welcomes WOU employees and students to use their facilities over the weekend”.

DISTED employees and their immediate family members will receive a 20% discount off the listed fees per enrolment for WOU programmes. In exchange, all WOU students will receive internship opportunities from DISTED which may lead to employment prospects.
In addition to these, the agreement calls for further exploration of joint ventures for special events including talks, webinars, forums, seminars or presentations, and other endeavours that can be advantageous to both parties.

This signing of this MoA brought together two renowned and well-respected education providers in Penang. DISTED is the first Penang-based private tertiary institution, and WOU is the a premier ODL university for adult learners wanting to pursue tertiary qualification for professional development and career enhancement.
