Wawasan Open University (WOU) welcomes Ms Tang Wan Chin as part of the School of Education, Humanities, and Social Sciences (SEHS), strengthening the University’s expertise in early childhood education. With more than 13 years of hands-on experience in teaching and mentoring, Tang brings both warmth and practical insight to WOU’s community of educators.
At WOU, she lectures in the Diploma in Early Childhood Education programme, drawing on her years in the classroom and her experience supervising practicum students from local and overseas universities. These roles have given her a deep understanding of how theory connects with real classroom practice.

Tang holds a Diploma in Early Childhood Education from the Institute CECE, a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) with Second Upper Class Honours from UNITAR International University, and a Master of Arts (Education) in Early Childhood Education from Universiti Sains Malaysia.
She hopes to bring a fresh perspective to educating early childhood practitioners and those aspiring to join the field through her teaching philosophy of “Grow & Glow”.
“I believe every educator should continuously grow in knowledge, skills, and self-reflection, and nurture their professional and personal development,” she says.
“As they grow, they will naturally glow with confidence and compassion, radiating positive inspiration that uplifts young children and their families,” she adds.
A Penang native, Tang describes herself as someone who learns with resilience and grows with joy.
Outside of work, she enjoys watching movies — especially those featuring Hong Kong actors — and occasionally cooks simple Western cuisine when time permits.
With her strong background and learner-focused approach, Tang is helping WOU prepare early childhood educators who are confident, reflective, and ready to make a positive difference in their classrooms.
