Wawasan Open University (WOU) and the Johor Skills Development Centre (JSkills) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to expand upskilling, reskilling, and career progression opportunities for Johor’s workforce.

The signing took place on 23 June 2026 during the JSkills Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment Seminar 2026 in Johor Bahru. Themed “Building Safer Workplaces, Shaping a Sustainable Future,” the seminar brought together approximately 150 industry participants.

The MoA was signed by JSkills Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mohamad Anas bin Mohamad Annuar and WOU Head of Marketing (Regional Operations and Marketing) Mike Sim. The signing was witnessed by Johor Talent Development Council Chief Coordinator Hilmy Hussain.

WOU and JSkills mark the beginning of a collaboration to support Johor’s future workforce needs.

The partnership combines WOU’s flexible learning and industry-focused learning pathways with JSkills’ role as a one-stop centre for industry training, certification, upskilling, and reskilling in Johor.

Through the collaboration, both institutions will explore workplace-relevant learning and workforce development initiatives that support adult learners, employers, and emerging industry needs.

The partnership is particularly timely as economic activity and talent demand continue to grow around the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone.

By widening access to flexible education and targeted skills development, WOU and JSkills aim to strengthen workforce agility and support sustainable regional growth.
