
ORIENTATION AT THE MAIN CAMPUS
900 students commenced their academic journey at Wawasan Open University (WOU) followingorientation sessions held at the five Regional Centres (RCs) today.
The new students were briefed by senior academics about the ODL model, regulations and procedures, and the University’s learner support services.
The 62 high achievers who were on the Dean’s List for the January 2014 semester and the 12 top student ambassadors were also recognized during the orientation.
167 students attended the session at The Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre (KLRC), including those from the Bandar Utama, Subang and Klang regional support centres.
The orientation began with a welcoming address by Klang Valley Regional Operations Director Adrian Siew Wai Yen. Alumni CEMBA graduate Daniel Tan Foo Chong told the new students about life as a WOU student, then Adam Wafi Abdul Adam Tajudeen, enrolled on the Bachelor of Technology (Hons) in Computer Systems and Networks programme, led them in reciting the students’ pledge.

Eight of the 20 Dean’s list recipients from the KLRC were on hand to receive their certificates from School of Education, Languages and Communications dean ,Prof Santhiram Raman. Meanwhile KLRC head, Audrey Keong, presented the Star Ambassador award to Ung Lee Wah, who had referred three new students under the WOU Friends & Family Programme.
