Five Wawasan Open University students have won an open distance learning (ODL) excursion trip to Universiti Terbuka Indonesia in December 2008 under the WOU Friends & Family Programme
They are Adha Salleh (B.Tech in Electronics), Kuek Sinew (B.Tech in Computing & Intelligent Systems), Nurhusni Mat Hussin (B.Business in Management), G. Munivaani (B.Tech in Electronics) and Quek Eng Pian (B.Tech in Computing Systems & Networks).

FRIENDS & FAMILY PROGRAMME WINNERS
The five were among 32 WOU Student Ambassadors around the country who introduced more than 150 new students to the university for the July 2008 intake.
Adha, 34, a technician, who is in his fourth semester, introduced several friends and colleagues to WOU. “They realised that the ODL here is a good choice for workers who want to increase their knowledge and plan for a better future.”

WINNER ADHA SALLEH.
Kuek, 40s, a clerk with the Education Department in Kota Bharu, is in his first semester. He organised small-group talks to share with teachers, colleagues and students on how they can further their studies and enhance their professional skills for better job prospects.
“I contacted people who have had their studies disrupted due to financial or personal reasons. I persuade them to upgrade themselves academically at WOU as they can work and study …and the cost is rather low,” he added.
