The five were among 32 WOU Student Ambassadors around the country who introduced more than 150 new students to the university for the July 2008 intake.

Adha, 34, a technician, who is in his fourth semester, introduced several friends and colleagues to WOU. “They realised that the ODL here is a good choice for workers who want to increase their knowledge and plan for a better future.”

Kuek, 40s, a clerk with the Education Department in Kota Bharu, is in his first semester. He organised small-group talks to share with teachers, colleagues and students on how they can further their studies and enhance their professional skills for better job prospects.

“I contacted people who have had their studies disrupted due to financial or personal reasons. I persuade them to upgrade themselves academically at WOU as they can work and study …and the cost is rather low,” he added.
