RTM cameraman Abdul Malik Abdullah walked away with the top RM200 cash prize with his excellent rendition of Frank Sinatra’s classic ‘My Way’. Second was Nanyang Siang Pau reporter Wong Soon Eng who won RM150 and third Timothy Lim of The Star with RM100. The cash prizes for the karaoke, including a surprise RM50 fourth prize, were courtesy of Prof Wong.
The Press were kept on their toes throughout the night with the lucky draws. WEF chairman Dato’ Seri Stephen Yeap picked the grand prize winner, giving away a Grolier encyclopaedia set to Bernama TV videographer Tan Hur Ting. The remaining prizes were drawn by Prof Wong, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Operations) Dr Seah Soo Aun and Dr Andy.
The first prize, a HP net book, was won by Guang Ming photographer C K Chuah. Meanwhile Guang Ming deputy chief editor T K Tan won a GPS and The Star photographer Wan Mohizan Wan Hussein a DVD player. Other prizes up for grabs were iPod shuffles, MP3 players, hotel buffet dinners, Parkson gift vouchers and electric jugs.
Around 20 WOU staff attended the over three-hour event, including Assistant Vice Chancellor Prof Dato’ Ho Sinn Chye, School of Business and Administration dean Prof Chee Kim Loy and School of Science and Technology dean Prof Tham Choy Yoong.
