WOU and Bonanza Educare forge ties to enhance educational and human capital development

WOU has inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Ipoh-based Bonanza Educare (BE) Sdn Bhd to enhance co-operation in recruitment, training and educational opportunities between both institutions.

WOU Chief Executive and Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Lily Chan and BE Director Dato’ Lim Si Boon signed the agreement at 1Lasam, the headquarters of Bonanza Venture Holdings of which BE is a subsidiary, on 1 March 2023. The signing was witnessed by WOU’s Regional Operations & Marketing Director Chong Kong Hoong and BE Director Edwin Tan Beow Aik.

Under the agreement, BE will commit to offer appropriate internship and training programmes for WOU students to strengthen their knowledge and practical skills in the relevant industries. This also extends to BE recruiting suitable WOU students to pursue part-time or full-time employment upon their graduation.

“We are extremely pleased to be partnering with BE in creating educational and employment opportunities that will be mutually beneficial for both parties,” Prof Chan stated.

She continued, “Our students will potentially benefit from these opportunities as it will help them prepare for future challenges in the real world.”

Both institutions also agreed to work together in organising events such as talks, seminars, webinars, forums and other educational activities.

“Through this collaboration, WOU’s pool of experts will share its expertise and knowledge in various areas such as business, science and technology,” Prof Chan said.

The agreement also provided a platform for WOU to promote its academic programmes amongst the BE workforce.

“We welcome the BE family to take advantage of the flexible and digital learning platforms available at WOU,” Prof Chan remarked, adding that BE employees and their immediate family members will be entitled to fee incentives when they enrol in WOU programmes.

Finally, the agreement will see WOU and BE combining their resources, strengths and capabilities to undertake research and development (R&D) projects and jointly applying for research funding.

Founded by an experienced team of educationalists and commercial operators, BE adopts a transformational approach in its quest to develop schools and learning spaces across Malaysia.
