WOU was honoured to receive a visit from two outstanding academicians from Australia, Prof Peter Drake and Prof Keith Norris.
Prof Drake is Professor Emeritus of the University of New England and the Australian Catholic University, while Prof Norris is a well-known labour economist who has authored and co-authored several books, notably “The Economics of the Australia Labour Markets”.
After paying a courtesy call on WOU Vice Chancellor Tan Sri Prof Emeritus Gajaraj Dhanarajan, they then met up with faculty members of the School of Business and Administration led by Dean Prof Cheah Kooi Guan.

PROF DRAKE IS THE FOUNDING VICE CHANCELLOR OF AUSTRALIAN CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY, 1991-98. HE WAS ALSO FOUNDATION MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF MANAGEMENT OF THE ASIAN AND PACIFIC DEVELOPMENT CENTRE (APDC), KUALA LUMPUR AND PROJECT MANAGER OF AUSTRALIA’S $15 MILLION PROJECT OF ASSISTANCE TO INSTITUT PERTANIAN BOGOR, INDONESIA.

THE VISITORS WERE BRIEFED ON THE OPEN DISTANCE LEARNING MODE OF CONDUCTING VARIOUS COURSES UNDER THE SBA.

PROF NORRIS IS A FORMER DEAN OF THE ECONOMICS DEPARTMENT, MURDOCH UNIVERSITY.
The professors were given a quick tour of the Homestead. Both academics were very impressed by the conservation work being carried out to preserve the Homestead in its original splendour.
