Two Measures to Effectively Mitigate COVID-19 Spread in Workplace

PENANG :  Rapid spread of COVID-19 virus, especially the new highly infectious variants, has caused closures of many workplaces in Malaysia, resulting in huge losses in life and livelihood.

Wawasan Open University (WOU), in collaboration with the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM), is presenting a free public webinar titled “Effective Contact Tracing and Air-Con Treatment to Mitigate COVID-19 Spread in your Workplace” on 28 July 2021, from 10.30 am to 12.00 noon.

The speaker is Dato’ Dr Neoh Soon Bin, the Managing Director of Soon Soon Group with over 10 factories, and a Board Member of Lam Wah Ee Hospital and UTAR Hospital.  A practising bio-chemistry research scientist, Dr Neoh heads his group’s research unit and has served on the Health Ministry’s committees.

This virtual event will be moderated by WOU Board of Governors Chairman, Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, while a welcome address will be delivered by FMM President, Tan Sri Soh Thian Lai.

Based on his experience in successfully preventing the spread of COVID-19 in his factories, Dr Neoh will focus his webinar on two (2) key measures that employers must implement to effectively ensure workplace safety.

He will demonstrate how to execute a comprehensive contact tracing programme based on the Health Ministry’s SOPs and how to identify groups of people that need to be quarantined, for how long, and what tests they need to undergo.

He will also talk about the treatment for a more effective air-conditioning system, and the safe use of ultraviolet-C (UV-C) and plasma cluster ionisers to purify the air and reduce airborne infection risk, especially if increasing air flow is not an option.

Those interested can register by scanning the QR code posted on the corporate websites of WOU or FMM, or alternatively, follow the workshop via Facebook live at https://www.facebook.com/wawasanopenuni/live/
