Wawasan Open University (WOU) launched its Johor Bahru Regional Office (JBRO) in Taman Jaya, Skudai. The office is WOU’s regional administration bureau in the south and is equipped with educational facilities that include meeting rooms, classrooms, a resource centre and computing facilities. It functions to provide support and as a point of convergence for WOU students in the state of Johor and surrounding areas.
Menteri Besar of Johor Dato’ Abdul Ghani Othman launched the JBRO. Also present were Deputy Information Minister Dato’ Seri Chia Kwang Chye, who is also the Secretary General of Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia, and WOU’s Vice Chancellor and CEO Tan Sri Emeritus Prof Gajaraj Dhanarajan.

In his speech, Abdul Ghani appealed to all Malaysians to participate in lifelong learning as it offers everyone equal opportunities to participate in the shaping of the country’s social and economic transformation.

Meanwhile Chia, in his speech, said that WOU’s operations of providing knowledge, skills and qualifications are in tandem with the aspirations of the state, which is already implementing several bold projects, including the Iskandar Development Region.
