Fostering staff-student relationship

It was all about having fun and fostering camaraderie when WOU’s Full-time Students Council organised a team building event at the main campus today.

THE PARTICIPANTS AND ORGANISERS OF THE TEAM BUILDING EXERCISE.

About 30 full-time students and five staff from the Penang Regional Centre (PGRC) divided themselves into seven groups to take part in the five station games held at three different levels of the Albukhary Building.

The PGRC team comprised its Director Ching Huey Ling along with Rina Julian Nazrin Julian, Cynthia Lim Ai Ling, Sasikanth Mariappan and Robin Cheah Kai Yang.

The student body president Muhammad Farid Arsyad Foad briefed the participants after which they were split into groups for the station games.

It was hilarious to watch the participants following directions to touch their head, shoulders or whichever body part, and trying to snatch the cup first on command, in the ‘Head, knees, toes, cup’ game.

Another game, ‘Glow in the dark’ required participants to be in a room with lights switched off and blind-folded where they then had to hold hands as they moved around and under obstacles, learning to trust one another.

LEADING ONE ANOTHER.

For the ‘Black box’, they had to pick out two marbles through a hole in the box, while the ‘Ice bucket’ challenge required them to remove a needle from the ice cold bucket which they then had to thread.  The participants were also busy huffing and puffing to blow up balloons in ‘This blows’ game before releasing the air to push cups across the table tennis table.

For their effort and sporting spirit, the group members were rewarded with food vouchers and a simple dinner at the end of the team building exercise.

The main objective of the event was to further improve the good relations between the full-time students and the PGRC staff.
