Bank Negara Malaysia Deputy Governor Dato’ Ooi Sang Kuang said that the financial services industry in particular will appreciate the university’s programmes since it adds ‘value’ to their profession. He commended WOU for playing a key role in providing training to narrow the knowledge gap among workers in the industry.
On the CeMBA /CeMPA programmes to be offered by WOU in January 2008, Malaysian-American Electronics Industry Chairman Dato’ Wong Siew Hai suggested that both postgraduate programmes must be able to stand out from the numerous MBA programmes offered by other higher learning institutions in the country.
Another APG member, Prof Dr Osman Mohamad, remarked that WOU’s programmes are unique as the students studying for Masters can transfer their credits to other institutions outside Malaysia. Prof Dr Osman is the International Research Cluster Head for the School of Management at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).
The APG members, comprising senior academicians and industry experts, meet regularly to review the university’s programmes and advise on their relevance to the local environment and national needs. The APG plays an important role in WOU’s quality assurance mechanism.
