The appointees will be engaged in developing and coordinating the delivery of courses in their respective disciplines and undertake research in relevant areas.

The Job:

  • Delivery, coordination and development of learning materials for undergraduate and postgraduate courses (ODL and classroom lecture) in the prescribed fields within the School.
  • Setting of assignments and examination papers and marking schemes.
  • Recruitment, training, management and evaluation of part-time tutors.
  • Liaising and working with external examiners, writers and assessors of learning course materials.
  • Working with other support units of the University including the Registry, Library, Educational Technology and Publishing Unit in the delivery of learning and teaching.

Requirements:

  • A minimum Master degree and preferably a PhD from an accredited University in the relevant discipline.
  • Excellent command of English and competency in Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Experience in Teacher Education and teaching, specialisation in curriculum and methodology. {*for School of Education, Languages & Communications}
  • Experience in Open Distance Learning programmes and/or a record of research and publications would be an added advantage.

Academic Support Position

1) Administrative Officer - Registry (Based in Main Campus, Penang)

Responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain system requirements in respect of exams and graduation requirements.
  • Update and maintain accurately records of students data in respect of exams.
  • Prepare draft and final timetables for examinations and check for clashes.
  • Prepare and dispatch students' exam notification slips and instructions.
  • Collateand dispatch examination question papers to Regional Centres.
  • Prepare and dispatch exam stationery requirements to Regional Centres.
  • Record receipt and dispatch of examination answer scripts from/toExam office.
  • Processing of marks into SIS and appeals regarding grades.
  • Generating reports, printouts and statistics. 
  • Process requests for change in examination venues.
  • Provide administrative support for other registry applications.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Degree in Business Administration or its equivalent with 2-3 years of working experience handling examinations and graduation matters duties.
  • Good command of spoken and written English.
  • Computer literate especially in MS Words and Excel.

2) Officer - Quality Assurance (Based in Main Campus, Penang)

Responsibilities:

  • To facilitate the development, improvement and revision of Standard Operating Procedures of various departments;
  • To facilitate any continuous improvement process and assist in the preparation for external audit [eg. Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) etc];
  • To ensure the development, delivery and monitoring of programmes conform to MQA / MOHE requirements;

Non-Academic Position

1) Manager - Finance (Based in Penang)

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for overall process improvements and system development and implementation for Finance department.
  • To be involved in the definition requirement for acquiring, developing and enhancing application solutions.
  • Development of process documentation and conduct necessary training to end users.
  • Ensure effective internal controls.
  • Lead projects and provide consultation to management and other business partners on cross functional impact.
  • Preparation of Annual Financial Statement and Reports for Board of Directors.
  • Manage the financial and treasury functions of the company and its subsidiaries.
  • Preparation of forecast and annual budget.
  • Generate reports, printouts and statistics. 

Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree in Accounting or equivalent Professional Accounting qualifications with 8 to 10 years related working experience in a managerial position.
  • Excellent and proven project management skills.
  • Knowledge of ERP system.
  • Excellent in troubleshooting skills and analysing root cause problems.
  • Strong team player with the ability to lead the development and implementation of relevant accounting systems and processes.
  • Meticulous in procedure compliance and statutory requirements.
  • Good knowledge on Malaysian taxation and GST regulatory matters.

  • Preparation of budget and forecast.

3) Senior Manager / Manager (Based in PGRM - Cheras, KL)

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out the operations of KLRC in accordance with the objectives laid down in the University’s mission, vision, policies and any other directions that may be issued from time to time by the university.
  • Assist the Director, Regional Operations – Klang Valley in ensuring the smooth running of the Regional Centre or Regional Support Centre operations like recruitment of new students, conduct of APEL assessment, payment collection and class allocations & management.
  • Ensure compliance with all municipal and regulatory requirements concerning the physical premises of KLRC.
  • Manage and direct all partners who are appointed to recruit students on behalf of the university.
  • Ensure that KLRC is managed according to the established budget for the year and that promotional and recruitment activities are directed at bringing in the projected student number.
  • Familiarise with and ensure compliance with all regulations concerning the ownership and use of the premises in which the university is located (in Menara PGRM), including conditions attached to title and corporate body rules and regulations.
  • Acquire a full understanding of the University’s ODL system and ensure that all ODL processes implemented in strict accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensure that the centre is able to provide support to all students of WOU in accordance with University guidelines and procedures.
  • Ensure that all equipment and facilities are in a good condition to meet expectations of students and tutors.
  • Ensure that timetables and schedules of classes are organised according to procedures and in compliance of the schedules laid down by the Academic Division.
  • Ensure that information that is relevant for students, including dates of classes and examinations are conveyed in a timely manner.
  • Lead in the organisation of WOU’s activities such as exams, staff visits, marketing, enrolment as well as tutor training and development.
  • Build and maintain a network of relations with officials in the state governments, donor organizations, and other local institutions.
  • Able to work on weekends.
  • Working hours: 10 A.M - 7 P.M (Tuesday to Sunday where Monday is a rest day and there will be an off day between Tuesday to Friday depending on the duty roster arranged).

Requirements:

  • University graduate in business, marketing, communications or equivalent with combination of expertise in education. A postgraduate qualification, such as an MBA, would be advantageous.
  • Preferred to possess aten years combined senior management and communications experience in an organisation involving a significant number of people with diverse and varied interests and backgrounds.
  • Experience must include strategic planning, communications planning and management, marketing and media relations.
  • Strong communicator with excellent written, presentation, oral communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to think creatively and strategically, has excellent judgement and be able to work in a changing environment.
  • Possess strong leadership skills, a team builder and able to motivate and influence others.

  • Prepare annual audit and tax schedules.

Requirements:

  • Sound knowledge of costing and inventory control process.
