1) Senior Lecturers and Lecturers (Based in Main Campus, Penang)

Responsibilities:

The appointees will be responsible for teaching, developing and coordinating the delivery of courses in one of the following areas and undertake research and publications in relevant areas.

> School of Business and Administration

   1) Finance

> School of Science and Technology

   1) Construction Management

> School of Education, Languages and Communications

  1) Early Childhood in Education
 

The Job:

  • Oversight, delivery, coordination and development of learning materials for undergraduate and postgraduate courses (ODL, OL and classroom lecture) in the prescribed fields within the School.
  • Setting of assignments and examination papers and marking schemes.
  • Recruitment, training, management and evaluation of part-time tutors.
  • Liaising and working with external examiners, writers and assessors of learning course materials.
  • Working with other support units of the University including the Registry, Library, Educational Technology and Publishing Unit in the delivery of learning and teaching.
  • Assisting the School in developing new academic programmes, enhancing delivery and learning, facilitate seminars and other projects relevant to WOU.

Requirements:

  • A minimum Master degree and preferably a PhD from an accredited University in the relevant discipline.
  • Excellent command of English and competency in Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Experience in Teacher Education and teaching, specialisation in early childhood education {*for School of Education, Languages & Communications}.
  • Experience in Open Distance Learning programmes and/or a record of research and publications would be an added advantage.

Academic Support Position

1) Manager - Quality Assurance and External Relations (Based in Main Campus, Penang)

Responsibilities:

  • Directly responsible for the coordination and management of all Quality Assurance (QA) functions of both the Online Distance Learning (ODL) and Face to Face full-time (F2F) delivery provisions of the University. 
  • Be actively involved in promoting specific programmes and serving as a training facility (in partnership with similar organisations) on QA.
  • Directing and coordinating the services for the secretariat of the Senate Committee on QA, Teaching and Learning (QATL). 
  • Provide leadership and facilitate in the development of quality assurance protocols and systems in line with internationally accepted norms.
  • Monitor and ensure the implementation of QA practices in all areas of activities in the University.
  •  Ensure compliance with conditions as laid down by regulatory bodies where appropriate.
  • Oversee the conduct and compilation of the evaluation of student performance data and development of ways to improve student performance in association with Educational Technology and the Schools.
  • Conduct on a periodical basis quality audit with a view towards strengthening the existing quality systems and practice.
  • Promote and establish collaborations with institutions locally and abroad.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree or equivalent qualifications from a recognised reputable institution.
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years related experience in a managerial position (preferably from the Higher Education Institution).
  • Possess good communication and interpersonal relationship skills and ability to work closely with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to carry out internal audits and other verification activities as well as ensure compliance to all aspects of Quality Assurance standards and benchmarks.
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Computer literate.

2) Officer - Quality Assurance (Based in Main Campus, Penang)

Responsibilities:

  • To facilitate the development, improvement and revision of Standard Operating Procedures of various departments;
  • To facilitate any continuous improvement process and assist in the preparation for external audit [eg. Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) etc];
  • To ensure the development, delivery and monitoring of programmes conform to MQA / MOHE requirements;
  • To undertake other related duties as may be assigned by the Director, and/or Management from time to time.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Degree in Business Administration or its equivalent with 2-3 years of working experience.
  • Good command of spoken and written English.
  • Computer literate especially in MS Words and Excel.

3) Executive / Sr. Executive - Registry (Based in Main Campus, Penang)

Responsibilities (primarily in the Exam Division of Registry):

  • To be responsible for the management of the entire examination processes (full time and part time studies) of the University.
  • To maintain and administer the assessment records of students in the Student Information System.
  • To administer the graduation office of Registry.
  • To assist the Secretariat of the Senate
  • To support other functions of Registry.

Requirements

  • A recognised Bachelor/Master degree in Business Administration or equivalent qualifications.
  • Preferably with relevant working experience in the exams division/department of an educational institution.
  • People oriented with experience in management and administrative work.
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Computer literate especially in MS Office.

Non-Academic Position


1) Officer / Executive - Finance
     Work Location - (The successful candidate will be based in one of the subsidiaries of Wawasan Open University)

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all fees collection.
  • Prepare the details weekly daily collection reports.
  • Maintain the listing for tuition fee collection and rebates.
  • Maintain the excess fee schedule.
  • Perform the supplier invoice entry.
  • Monitor the staff advance payments.
  • Maintain fixed asset register.
  • Perform bank reconciliations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree in Accounting or equivalent Professional Accounting qualifications with 2 to 3 years related working experience.
  • Excellent and proven project management skill.
  • Ability to work well with all levels.
  • Knowledge of ERP system.
  • Good command of spoken and written English.
  • Computer literate especially in MS Office and other Accounting System.

2) Executive / Officer, Marketing & Admission - Johor / George Town (Penang), Cheras (Selangor) / Petaling Jaya   (Selangor)

Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintain admission, examination and student records.
  • Responsible for all aspects relating to the marketing of the University and its programmes.
  • Develop marketing plans and potential student database.
  • Handle all enquiries and convert all leads from CRM.
  • Assist in counseling and provide guidance on enquiries on advance standing.

Requirements:

  • Degree/Diploma or equivalent in Business Studies, Mass Communication, Finance or Accounting with minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Applicants with telemarketing skill and experience will be an added advantage.
  • Able to work on weekends.
  • Working hours: 10 A.M. - 7 P.M. (Tuesday to Sunday where Monday is a rest day and there will be an off day between Tuesday to Friday depending on the duty roster arranged).

3) Officer / Executive - Customer Service (Based in Main Campus, Penang)

Responsibilities:

  • To be a primary contact person in the University Call Centre unit to answer queries and handle feedback.
  • To be the coordinator between the Main Campus & Regional Centres in managing students & prospects in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • To assist in University events, road shows, education fair and all other promotional activities as required.
  • To assist in direct marketing initiatives e.g. e-newsletter, SMS, phone calls, etc.
  • To conduct student survey and student retention activities and preparing reports.


Requirements

  • A recognised Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or equivalent qualification.
  • Possess good understanding of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, Customer Experience (CE) approach.
  • Minimum 3 years working experience in Call Centre operations.
  • Must be able to produce CRM related reports and presentation as and when required.
  • People oriented with experience in management and administrative work.
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Computer literate especially in MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • To supervise Front Office operations.
  • To provide support in administrative duties including front office support, telephone programming coordination, liaising with vendors for sourcing of quotations, raising purchase requisitions and preparing reports.  
  • To coordinate Internal events.
  • To coordinate and manage Office Keys.
  • To handle Tenancy Agreements & Contracts.
