Programme description

The last decade has seen a phenomenal growth in global communications. New communications technologies such as wireless and Internet communications have had a tremendous influence on our lifestyles. The launch of Malaysia's first satellite, MEASAT, in 1996 marked Malaysia's entry into space-age communications, which in turn has led to a revolution in communications, information and entertainment. The country has seen enormous growth in virtually all aspects of modern telecommunications.

Numerous multinational communications companies have set up regional offices and now provide their services here. The demand for skilled professionals to support the development and services of communications systems and support services has increased correspondingly.

This programme aims to provide you with a solid understanding of information and communications technology (ICT) theory and practice as well as an in-depth appreciation of key specialisations in communications such as wireless communications and mobile Internet communications.

Job prospects

This programme will prepare you for a challenging career in ICT as a technical or marketing manager working in the rapidly expanding communications industry. You could also choose from a range of other positions such as Communications Manager/Engineer, Communications Network Manager, Systems Engineer, Communications Engineer, IT Operations Manager, Project Manager, R&D Communications Developer, Technical Manager, Mobile Applications Manager, IT Analyst, IT Consultant and IT Engineer.
