The Chancellor is the University’s most senior officer and its ambassador, presiding over degree ceremonies and attending University events. 

* His tenure as Chancellor ended on 31 December 2018. The new Chancellor will be announced soon.

Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon was proclaimed as the first Pro-Chancellor of WOU during the 3rd convocation ceremony held at the main campus on 24 November 2012. Since October 2013, he has also been serving as the Chairman of Wawasan Education Foundation (WEF).

* A new Pro-Chancellor has been appointed and will be announced by mid-2019.



Acting Vice Chancellor

The Acting Vice Chancellor is supported by the senate, (which oversees the university's academic programme, its teaching and research, the conduct of examinations and the degrees and courses of study offered), a management board, and an international advisory board (which keeps her up-to-date with best international practices and the latest developments in open learning).

Board of Governors

The executive body responsible for the overall management of WOU is the Board of Governors. The chair and members of the Board of Governors are appointed by the Board of Directors of Wawasan Education Foundation, the main funding agency for Wawasan Open University.

The Organisational Structure

The Vice Chancellor is the chief executive and academic officer of the university. It is the duty of the Vice Chancellor to ensure that the provisions of the university's constitution and its regulations are observed, and he is conferred the powers necessary for this purpose.
