8th Asia-Pacific Evidence-Based Medicine and Nursing Workshop & Conference

The Penang Adventist Hospital and the National University Health System are organising the 8th Pacific Evidence-Based Medicine & Nursing Workshop & Conference.

This workshop and conference will feature Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) "guru" Prof Gordon Guyatt and other esteemed faculty members from McMaster University, Ontario, Canada. it will cover critical appraisal of journal articles, literature search and how to use published literature in daily clinical practice.

The objectives of the conference are:

*To learn the principles of Evidence-Based Medicine / Nursing
*To develop the skills necessary to apply Evidence-Based Medicine / Nursing in clinical practice
* To develop the skills necessary to teach Evidence-Based Medicine / Nursing

Workshops on Teaching the Second Cycle of Literary Texts for KBSM

Wawasan Open University's Centre for Professional Development and Continuing Education (PACE) and the School of Education, Languages and Communications (SELC) will conduct two days of workshop on Teaching the Second Cycle Texts for the KBSM Literature in English Component (Forms 1 and 4).

The objectives are:
·          To enhance English Language teachers’ reading of the prescribed literary texts
·          To provide English Language teachers the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate literary texts
·          To train English Language teachers to teach the prescribed literary texts in an effective and
         meaningful way
·          To train English Language teachers to assess students' reading of the prescribed literary texts

Who should attend:
Teachers who teach English Language in Forms 1 and 4

Training fees
RM125.00 per participant including morning coffee. Payment can be made by cheque or draft payable to Wawasan Open University Sdn Bhd


There will be three 1-2 hour sessions per day, including presentations, practices, discussions and hands-on activities. The lead trainer is SELC dean Assoc Prof Dr Malachi Edwin Vethamani.

Relay For Life - Fighting Cancer Together 2010

The National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) Penang branch and Penang Hospice Society are jointly organising the Penang Relay for Life to help spread the key messages of cancer and get people to fight cancer together.

Wawasan Open University is once again participating in the event as a sponsor and hopes to send a team as well to join in the symbolic walk of solidarity around the relay route.
