WOU hosted a study excursion of 12 school students from various parts of Thailand to the main campus today. They were attending a two-week holiday camp at WOU’s sister institution, DISTED College, from 16-29 July 2018.
The students were accompanied on their visit to the main campus by Thai teacher, Mr. Nutthchai Kunananthsiri. The purpose of the study tour was to expose the students first hand to how information technology can be applied to education.
WOU’s Head of Learning & Library Services Chew Bee Leng was on hand to greet the visitors upon arrival and acquaint them with the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Digital Library.
Chew briefed the students on information literacy and conducted a hands-on workshop on resource searching skills and the use of MyDigital Library with the aid of the open access PCs in the library. She was assisted by Assistant Library Managers Ooi Siew Lee and Norhasni Abdul Aziz.
The visitors were also taken on a tour of the campus, namely to the Lecture Theatres, video-conferencing facility, seminar rooms and the computer lab by Corporate Communications Manager Rasidah Mion.
It was an educational visit for the students who learnt about the various services offered by WOU’s digital library and how to locate study resources on the Internet.
