About 15 WOU senior management and academic staff underwent a training workshop to polish up on their presentation skills for lectures and master the art of effective communication.
The five-day Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA) workshop was conducted by a team of coordinators and facilitators – they are Jai Chandiram, Pema Eden Samdup, Naveen Gautam, Rakesh Chauhan and Yashpal Bhaskar.
Among those who attended were Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof Wong Tat Meng, the directors of Educational Technology, ITS, Publishing and the Centre for Graduate Studies, as well as the Deans and course coordinators of the three Schools - Business and Administration, Science and Technology, and Foundation and Liberal Studies.
The workshop aimed to develop better presentation skills through instructional design, choice of language, and good voice and body language for achieving effective communication in today’s ever-changing vibrant learning environment.
The participants learned how to make class presentations stimulating and interactive using creative visuals and formats; how to develop attention catchers and story-telling skills; and how to infuse style and clarity in their presentation using tools in graphics design, audio and video inserts.
