WOU-Road to Dawn Charity Premiere

A live RTM talk show TV programme ”What Say You” featuring the main casts of the movie “Road to Dawn”, Winston Chow, Wu Yue and Angelica Lee Sin Chet, took place at the Queensbay Mall on Sept 16th. The stars shared their views on the topic, “Artistes' roles in society”.

On the following day, a press conference was held at the E&O Hotel attended by the main stars and chaired by Dato’ Dr Teng Hock Nan, Penang State Executive Councillor. Also there was WOU Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chancellor Tan Sri Emeritus Professor Gajaraj Dhanarajan.

The artistes from Road to Dawn made an appeal to all Malaysians to contribute generously to the Wawasan Open University’s Chancellor’s Scholarship Fund in the Press conference.

The Chancellor’s Scholarship fund received donations of RM 1 million each from the the Yeap Leong Hai and Yeap Leong Chooi trusts.

Deputy Information Minister, Datuk Seri Chia Kwang Chye said WOU hopes to raise about RM50 million over the next 10 years.

The E&O Group sponsored a total of RM1 million towards establishing the WOU-E&O Chancellor’s Scholarship Fund during the WOU-Road to Dawn Premiere Tea Party held after the Press Conference.

Later that evening, the Charity Premiere of the movie Road to Dawn drew a huge crowd to the Golden Screen Cinema, at Gurney Plaza in Penang. The event was graced by the glamorous appearance of the three main stars at the first public screening of the film. The Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon officiated at the Charity Premiere.
