Wawasan Open University has appointed Tan Chong Education Services as its Strategic Academic Partner (SAP) to assist with the recruitment of students into its programmes.
WOU signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the company today to solidify the relationship. The signatories were Vice Chancellor Prof Dato’ Dr Ho Sinn Chye for the University, and the Regional Manager for the Northern and Eastern Regional Office of Tan Chong Education Services, Jerome Wong.
Under the MoA, the company will represent, promote and sell all of the University’s programmes in an effort to secure student recruitments for WOU starting from the July intake. It will particularly assist the Penang Regional Centre (PGRC) to register working adults in the northern region.
Tan Chong joins the increasing number of SAPs engaged by WOU Regional Centres nationwide to reach out to a larger segment of society with the offer of educational opportunities to upgrade their professional qualifications.
The MoA signing between WOU and Tan Chong follows an initial meeting at the main campus on February 7 to discuss possible partnerships in the training of the workforce. The WOU attendees included Prof Ho, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Operations) Dr Seah Soo Aun, and Director of Regional Operations & MARCOM K H Chong while Tan Chong Education Services was represented by Education and CRM Consultant of Tan Chong Group, Dr Paul Leow, and Jerome Wong.
At the meeting, Dr Paul Leow shared on Tan Chong Group, offering highlights into its listed companies, brand partners, plant locations, domestic and overseas educational partners, and future growth plans. He stated that Tan Chong Education Services is two years old and was set up for the purpose of human capital development.
To date, WOU has appointed more than ten companies as Strategic Academic Partners in a bid to support its five Regional Centres and three Regional Support Centres and improve on student recruitment.
The Regional Centres had recently successfully engaged a few companies as SAPs to complement and support WOU in its marketing efforts. Among the latest signings include Change Hybrid Strategists Sdn Bhd for Penang, Northbridge Education Consultancy for Kuching, Lawrence Walter Seminars for Kuala Lumpur, and Right Step Services for Johor Bahru.
