Free Public Talk on
Water supply security in Penang

Wawasan Open University is organising a free public lecture on “Water Supply Sustainability for Penang” by Dato’ Ir. Jaseni Maidinsa, the Chief Executive Officer of PBA Holdings Bhd (PBAHB) and Perbadanan Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang (PBAPP).

Dato’ Jaseni has been serving Penang through PBAHB, PBAPP and the former Pihak Berkuasa Air for 33 years. He is a Member of the Malaysian Water Association (MWA) and is the recipient of the “MWA Malaysia Water Award for Management 2018”.

He is a strong advocate for: conservation of water catchment areas; holistic and sustainable water supply management (through the implementation of both supply and demand management initiatives) in this age of climate change; and consumer awareness and education to cultivate a “water-smart” and well-informed water saving society.

As at 2018, the PBAPP has upheld the tradition of supplying good quality treated water to 1.76 million people, 24/7, without any incidences of water rationing.

The PBAPP has also been planning, proposing and implementing key strategic initiatives to ensure water supply security for Penang towards 2050, and for the next generation of Penangites. The speaker will share these forward-looking initiatives which have been well-received by the new Federal Government and State Government, and are aimed at shaping a better and more sustainable future for Penang, water-wise.
