Q : How will I study?
A : You will
  • Receive a comprehensive printed course materials and textbooks (if applicable).
  • Participate in the Learning Management System (LMS) for online discussions/forum with your peers, tutors and course coordinators.
  • Have a tutor allocated to you who will guide and advise you on your courses and is available by telephone, or will support through online communication.
Q : Where can I study?
A : Wawasan Open has set up Regional and Learning Offices in five locations i.e. Penang, Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Kota Bharu. These centres will have basic facilities for tutoring and learning e.g. library, study area, classrooms, etc.

With Wawasan Open's online learning facilities and e-library you can also study at home, workplace, and public libraries or during your business trips.
Q : Will I meet other students when I study at Wawasan Open?
A : Yes, you will have the opportunity to meet your coursemates during your tutorials, day schools or laboratory sessions. 
Q : What are the delivery modes of courses?
A : Through:
  • Face-to-face tutorial sessions.
  • The comprehensive course materials.
  • Learning Management System (LMS), a platform to input information such as course content and allows synchronous and asynchronous conferencing.
Q : Must I have a computer and Internet access when pursuing my studies in Wawasan Open?
A : Highly advisable for you to have access to a computer and to the Internet facilities. However, if you do not have such amenities, all Wawasan Open Regional Offices provide self-access computing facilities to facilitate your learning. Apart from that, all our course materials are specially designed to cater for the needs of open distance learners.
Q : What is the language used during tutorials?
A : Tutorials are conducted in English.
Q : What if my standard of English is not very good?
A : Wawasan Open offers foundation courses in English to strengthen your basic competencies in English language. Apart from that, it is compulsory for students to enrol for university courses such as Communication for Workplace, English for the Workplace and Writing Skills for University Studies to enhance their English proficiency before embarking on higher level courses.
Q : What is the tutor to students ratio in Wawasan Open?
A : Approximately 1:30
Q : How do I interact with my tutors?
A : Your tutors may be reached through the following modes:
  • Emails
  • Telephone, and
  • Other computer-mediated communications  

We will have an online Learning Management System (LMS) where you can post your questions and hold discussions with tutors as well as your course mates.

Q : Who conducts the tutorials?
A : Tutorials are conducted by tutors who are recruited from universities and private institutions of higher learning as well as from the industry. They are selected for their specialist knowledge in specific courses and their teaching abilities.
Q : What are the qualifications of your tutors?
A : Tutors will have at least a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field and possess at least two years teaching experience or relevant working experience in a senior position in the private or public sector.
Q : How many tutorials are there in a semester?
A : There will be five face-to-face tutorials in every semester.
Q : When I will get my timetable?
A : You can get your timetable from your Regional Office upon enrolment.
Q : If there is a clash in my timetable, what should I do?
A : Please contact your Regional Office Manager and apply for a tutorial group reallocation.
Q : Will I be required to attend all my tutorials?
A : Tutorials are not mandatory but it is highly advisable for students to attend all the tutorial sessions.
Q : What is conducted during the tutorials?
A: During tutorials, tutors will provide constructive feedback on your Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMAs) as well as valuable guide to help you advance in the course. 
Q : What are the deadlines for the submission of my Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMAs)?
A : The following are deadlines for submission of TMAs:
5th week = Tutorial 2 (Submission of TMA 1)
9th week = Tutorial 3 (Submission of TMA 2)
13th week = Tutorial 4 (Submission of TMA 3)
Q : Can I submit my TMAs on-line?
A : No, all course work must be submitted to the tutor in hardcopy during the scheduled tutorials or by mail to the respective Regional Office.
Q : What will happen if I am not able to submit my TMA on time?
A : Please contact your Regional Office Manager or tutor if you are not able to submit your coursework on time. You may apply for the deadline extension for submission of TMAs. Please get the form from your Regional Office.
