Dr Anna Christina Abdullah is a Professor at the School of Education, Languages and Communication, Wawasan Open University .She was previously a Professor at the School of Educational Studies, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Her areas of specialisation are Curriculum Studies, Primary Education and Early Childhood Education, whilst her current research interests are focused on teacher education and culturally responsive pedagogies.

She has previously held positions of Acting Dean, Deputy Dean, and Programme Chair at the School of Educational Studies, USM. She was also the Coordinator of the Basic Education Research Unit as well as Director of the Community Network in the Division of Industry and Community Lingkages in USM.

Dr. Anna has produced more than 100 publications, including books, chapters in books, journal articles, teaching modules and educational innovations.

She also actively participates in community projects, mainly in her capacity as the Chairperson of the Preschool Education Committee under the Penang State Education Council. This committee conducts programmes for children, teachers and parents that focus on enhancing the quality of preschool education. This committee is also the main convenor of the annual Penang International Kids Storytelling Festival (PInKS-Fest) since 2010.

More recently, Dr. Anna is a member of the Ministry of Education’s English Language Standards and Quality Council since 2014. She either has or currently serves on several editorial boards such as Asia Pacific Journal of Education and Educators, Asia Pacific Journal of Educators and Education, International Journal of Early Childhood Education and Care, Kajian Malaysia (Malaysian Studies), Malaysian Journal of Educational Technology,  Diges Pendidik and Journal of Malaysian Education Deans Council.

She was a recipient of  the Endeavour Research Fellowship awarded by the Department of Education, Science and Technology, Australia between May and August, 2007 as well as of a Visiting Professor position at the Centre for International Cooperation in Education (CICE); Hiroshima University, Japan between September and November 2007.  She is a member of National Association of Education for Young Children (NAEYC), as well as the Association of Childhood Education International (ACEI).
