What is the total cost for a degree programme?

The fee structure for a degree is as follows:

What is the 'Group Incentive' scheme and how much is the incentive awarded to each student under this scheme?
The 'Group Incentive' scheme is to encourage organisations to sponsor students. They are awarded only once for the semester of admission and is a fixed lump sum awarded to each student within that group. The amount awarded is as follows:

Between 5 and 10 people 250
Between 11 and 20 people 350
21 people and above     500
 

 
What is the mode of payment?

You may pay by:

  • cash
  • crossed cheque
  • bank draft
  • money/postal order
  • credit card (Visa or MasterCard)
  • ATM Card from Alliance Bank, Affin Bank, AmBank, Bank Islam, EON Bank, Hong Leong Bank, Maybank, Public Bank, Bank Muamalat, Bank Pertama, Bank Rakyat, Bank Simpanan Nasional, RHB Bank and CIMB Bank and others

Is there any instalment scheme available?

Yes, in exceptional circumstances and with the approval of the Regional Centre Director/Manager, you may be allowed to pay tuition fees in two instalments. However, the Processing and Administrative fee as well as the Resource and Services fee have to be paid in full.

 

 
When is the cut-off date for the two instalments?
You have to pay up 60% of the tuition fees for the first instalment by the first tutorial (week 1) and 40 % for the second instalment by the third tutorial (week 9).
 

 
Are there any late charges if I were to pay my fees late?

Yes, a late payment fee of RM100 will be imposed if you do not settle your fees by the first week of the semester and by the third tutorial for students who were granted the approval for instalment scheme.

 

 
Where can I seek financial assistance to support my studies?

There are numerous financial aid available such as:

a. Employees Provident Fund (EPF) 

If you have savings with the EPF, you can withdraw from your Account II to pay your fees.

Please contact your local EPF office to get a free Borang KWSP 9H (AHL). You will also need an offer letter from WOU as well as a statement of fees payable.

Any excess EPF fund parked with WOU will not be confirmed as advance payment for tuition fee and no interest bearing.

Please contact your Regional Centre for help and advice.

b. Instalment scheme

In exceptional circumstances and with the approval of the Regional Centre Director / Manager, you may be allowed to pay tuition fees in two instalments i.e. 60% by the first tutorial (week 1) and 40% by the third tutorial (week 9). The Processing and Administrative fee as well as the Resource and Services fee, however, have to be paid in full.

c. Bank study loans

Study loans are available from various banks. For further information, please seek advice from your Regional Centre.

d. Study grants

Several organisations, including Wawasan Education Foundation (WEF), the parent entity of WOU, are sponsoring study grants. Please contact your Regional Centre for advice and guidance.

e. National Higher Education Fund / PTPTN

Learners who have enrolled for the undergraduate programmes at WOU are eligible to apply for loans from PTPTN. However PTPTN does not offer loans for learners pursuing postgraduate programmes. Please contact your Regional Centre for assistance and advice.

f. HRDF Claimable Training Scheme

Employers who are registered with Human Resources Development Berhad (HRDB) can now enrol their workers in any courses run by WOU, and submit their claims under the Human Resources Development Fund. For further information, please call the toll-free WOU Careline at 1300-888-WOU (968).

g. Lifelong Learners Discount

WOU offers a discount of 50% for learners aged 60 years and above. For further information, please call the toll-free WOU Careline at 1300-888-WOU (968).

h. OKU Discount

If you are physically disabled and registered with the Social Welfare Department of the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, you are entitled to a discount of 50% off your fees. For further information, please call the toll-free WOU Careline at 1300-888-WOU (968).

 

 
What are the refund policies in WOU?

If you have paid your fees in full and wish to drop a course or withdraw from the university, the refund policies are as follows:

Dropping of Course(s)

1) Full refund of TF & LF

2) Partial refund of TF & LF

TF: forfeit RM100 per course
LF: forfeit 50%

3) No refund of TF & LF

 

No later than two (2) weeks before the commencement of the semester

Two (2) weeks before the commencement of the semester and and one (1) week after the first tutorial (T1) of the respective course

After the partial refund period

Withdrawal from the University:

1) Full Refund of TF & LF and R&S

2) Partial refund of TF & LF and R&S

TF: forfeit RM100 per course
R&S: forfeit RM50
LF: forfeit 50%


3) No Refund of TF & LF and R&S

 

 

 No later than two (2) weeks before the commencement of the semester

Two (2) weeks before the commencement of the semester and and one (1) week after the first tutorial (T1) of the respective course

After the partial refund period
