How will I be evaluated in a course?
You will be evaluated through continuous assessment components and final exam. To pass a course, you must pass both the continuous assessment component and the final examination component.
 

 
When will I sit for the final examinations of my courses?
Wawasan Open University examination period is from the 20th to 21st week of every semester.
 

 
How is the examination administered?

You will be required to attend the final examination of each course at designated examination centres. The examination timetable will be published on the student portal, LMS and the Wawasan Open University’s website when the re-enrolment exercise begins that is week 11 of the previous semester.

 

 
Are students allowed to appeal after their results are released?

Yes,  students may appeal against their course results within 2 weeks after the official announcement of the grades on the student portal, at a cost of RM 75 per course,  using the prescribed form to be submitted via the respective Regional Centres.

 

 
What is the grading system in Wawasan Open University?

The grading system is as follows:

Undergraduate Programmes

A 4.00 Distinction
A- 3.67 Excellent
B+ 3.33 Extremely Good
B 3.00 Very Good
B- 2.67 Good
C+ 2.33 Moderately Good
C 2.00 Satisfactory
C- 1.67 Weak
D+ 1.33 Very Weak
D 1.00 Extremely Weak
F 0.00 Fail

 

Postgraduate Programmes

A 4.00 Distinction Pass
B 3.50 Excellent
C 3.00 Good
D 2.00 Poor Fail
E 1.00 Very Poor
F 0.00 Fail
 

 
Do all the courses in a programme carry the same weightage?

No. Each course level will have a different weightage. The respective weightage is as follows:

Undergraduate Programmes

Lower – L1 1
Middle – L2 2
Higher – L3 and above 2

 
      For Postgraduate programmes, the total credits is the weightage,

 

 
How do I calculate my Grade Point Average and Cumulative Grade Point Average of my courses?

The determination of the GPA and CGPA will be computed on the basis of a weighted average. The mode of calculating GPA on a semester basis is as shown:

The calculation of the GPA for any semester will be the total value of the weighted grade points (column 7), divided by the total of the weighted credits accorded to each subject (column 4).

For the computation of the CGPA, the courses taken in all the semesters will be taken into account as shown in the schedule below:

How do I register for the Supplementary Examination?

Only students who qualify for the Supplementary Examination can register within 2 weeks after the official announcement of the grades on the student portal, at a cost of RM 200 per course,  using the prescribed form to be submitted via the respective Regional Centres.

To qualify for the Supplementary Examinations, students must have been awarded the following grades in the main examination:-
For undergraduate programmes, grade AR/FR and for postgraduate programmes, grades D/E/FR/AR. (Note: AR = absent with valid reason/special consideration ; FR = Fail-Resit)

 

 
Can I repeat a particular course to improve my grades?

Yes, and in the event you repeat a particular course, the highest grade achieved will be taken into account in the calculation of the CGPA. However for Project Course in postgraduate programmes, you are not allowed to do so.

 

 
Is there any classification for the degrees awarded at Wawasan Open University?

The degrees awarded will be at the Honours level and there will not be any classification for the award. Table below shows the degree awarded for Undergraduate Programmes based on CGPA:

  CGPA 3.67 & above   Honours with Distinction
  CGPA 2.00 to 3.66   Honours
  CGPA below 2.00   Will not be eligible for an award of a degree
 

 
What is the standard of certification by Wawasan Open University?

The university shall mark the conferment of a degree by the presentation of a certificate of conferment to each graduate. The certificate shall be in English and will include the graduate's full name and the degree awarded.

 

 
Does Wawasan Open University provide transcripts?

The university shall provide each graduate with a transcript of courses taken including total of credit transfers. The transcript shall be issued free of charge only once in respect of each conferment.
