| Will my Wawasan
Open University degree be recognised? |
| Wawasan Open University has been
granted authority by MOHE and LAN to award its own
degrees. Wawasan Open University graduates are
treated exactly the same as graduates from other
private higher educational institutions by
the government as well as private sectors for
employment. |
| |
|
| |
| How long do I
need to study before I obtain my degree? |
| According to regulations stipulated
by MQA/LAN, you have to study for at least five year
before you can be awarded a degree. We would advise
you to spread your courses over a five years period
to ensure a smooth progression. |
| |
|
| |
| Is there a
limit to the maximum period of time for me to finish
a degree programme? |
| There is no maximum period of
study. However, for programmes requiring the
recognition from the professional bodies, prior
permission has to be sought from them to determine
the maximum study period. |
| |
|
| |
| What is the
maximum number of courses I can enrol in a semester? |
| In any semester, you
cannot enrol for more than four courses. |
| |
|
| |
| Is it possible
for me to take more than four courses in a semester
and complete my programme earlier than scheduled? I
am currently in between jobs. |
| Wawasan Open University has taken
into account the load of each working adult
student. Generally working adult will only be able
to take four courses per semester based on their
time spent on work, family,
personal commitments, recreation, etc. Therefore we
do not advise you to register for more than four
courses in a semester and this is also in cognisance of
the guidelines stipulated by LAN. |
| |
|
| |
| How much time
of study will I be required to spend for each
course? |
| Our courses are accorded a value
based on a nationally-agreed system of credit hours
in which each course is 3-credit hour. Every
course would require 120 hours of study in a
semester (18 weeks) which is about seven hours of
study in a week. |
| |
|
| |
| Do I have to
pass the course I have enrolled in before I could
enrol for another course? |
| In general, no, but some degree
programmes have pre-requisites which you have to
successfully complete before taking a particular
course. |
